Thiago Alves Out!

Thiago Alves Out

Thiago Alves out – He has been forced to withdraw from his co-main event fight this Saturday night in Pittsburgh, PA, for undisclosed reasons. The UFC is currently attempting to find a late replacement for Alves, who was schedule to fight one of the young and up-and-coming studs on the UFC roster, Mike Perry.

Replacement Could Be Difficult

This could be a difficult task for the UFC. Perry is a very formidable opponent and finding a replacement on short notice against a guy who is a big risk and not a big name yet might be a tall task.

If the UFC is unable to replace Perry, it would put a huge dent in this card. Ticket sales have been slow already and this would not be good to get a last minute push at the box office.

Pittsburgh MMA Fans Disappointed

The MMA fans in Pittsburgh and this region have been disappointed that, despite having quite a bit of high level local MMA talent in the area, there is not a single local fighter on the card. A fighter like Mark Cherico (who was given a relatively short notice fight on DWTNCS in Las Vegas a month ago instead of being scheduled for this card in his hometown) is going to sell at least a thousand tickets on his own in this market.

Here is how the fight card now currently stands:
