UFC Fight Night 121 What To Expect

UFC Fight Pass Card

The UFC returns to Sydney, Australia for the 1st time since November 2014 when Luke Rockhold and Michael Bisping met in the main event.  On Sunday, November 19th, 2017, the main event will feature Fabricio Werdum taking on Marcin Tybura in a heavyweight match-up.  From top to bottom, there are 8 fighters from Australia. Three of them will be walking out for the UFC for the first time. The UFC Fight Pass card feature fight pits 2 Australians against each other in a Women’s Strawweight fight between Alex Chambers and Nadia Kassem. Both are from Australia, with Kassem hailing from Wentworthville and Chambers out of Sydney.  Here’s what to expect for UFC Fight Night 121 UFC Fight Pass Card.

Women’s Strawweight Alex Chambers vs. Nadia Kassem:  Alex Chambers enters the contest with 3 losses in her last 4 fights, losing each one by armbar submission. A 3rd dan Black belt in Karate and a purple belt in BJJ, her wins have come from 2 KO’s, 2 submissions and 1 decision.  Nadia Kassem comes in with a perfect 4-0 record and making her UFC debut.  All of her victories were by KO/TKO and all have ended in the 1st round.  An interesting note to add is that all of Chambers’ losses ended in the 1st round as well.

Flyweight Jenel Lausa vs. Eric Shelton:  Jenel Lausa is an accomplished kickboxer, where he has 4 KO’s and is unbeaten at 7-0.  Inside the cage, he is 7-3, but just 1-1 with the UFC. Lausa has 2 more KO victories on his pro mma record.  His opponent, Eric Shelton, also has 2 contests under his belt with the UFC.  However, Shelton is 0-2 and lost both by split decision. With an overall 10-4 mark professional, half of his wins were by submission. Additionally, 8 of his 11 amateur wins were be submission also.  Shelton needs to make an impression in the fight, as not many UFC fighters have fared well after going 0-3 for the promotion.  Lausa is in the same boat and needs to make a mark.  Look for both fighters to take risks.

Heavyweight Rashad Coulter vs. Tai Tuivasa: Rashad Coulter has an 8-2 pro mma record.  All of his wins have been by KO/TKO. Six of the eight have been 1st round finishes.  Tai Tuivasa is 5-0 and, incredibly, has 5 KO/TKO’s on his pro mma record.  This one will surely be a wild one, albeit, a short one. If it goes past 2 minutes of the 1st round …… well, we don’t think it will.  Furious pace for a short duration with haymakers and bad intentions with every blow.  The streak will continue here for a KO/TKO before the end of the 1st round.
